Listen to the sound of the original steam whistle, and let a cruise on the Penobscot River take you back in time. The Steam Ferry Prudence will offer scenic harbor cruises Thursday through Sunday, departing from the beautifully renovated waterfront near historic downtown Bangor.
Choose from a 1½ hour Harbor Cruise or 1½ hour Sunset Cruise, some with live music on Friday and Saturday evenings. Our 100 passenger vessel offers spacious comfort to individuals, families and groups alike.
About The Prudence
A 57′ classic late 19th century steam ferry, the Prudence was built in Boothbay Harbor, Maine in 1911. The large open air upper deck lets you enjoy the passing sights, or enjoy your trip in the enclosed heated area below with modern facilities.
Enjoy a historic cruise
Some narration of the Penobscot River’s rich history will highlight most trips. The Penobscot River was once once the gateway to international trade during the 19th century, when Bangor was home to shipbuilding, steamships and lumber yards. Bangor today has preserved her fascinating history with museums and turn of the century architecture.
