Some narration of Belfast Bay’s rich history will highlight most trips. Shipbuilding was once a large business in Belfast after its incorporation as a city in 1853. Hundreds of three, four and five masted schooners were produced with materials shipped down the Penobscot River from Bangor, the lumber capital of North America during the later 19th century.
